English to Thai translation tips
- English is written in the Latin alphabet, and Thai uses the Thai script, so the translator converts between writing systems for you.
- Thai writes sentences without spaces and marks politeness with sentence-final particles, so segmentation and register are the hard parts of translation. English requires an explicit subject in nearly every sentence and marks questions with word order, so translations into English often need pronouns and auxiliaries that the source language leaves out.
- This bundle uses Standard Central Thai, the national standard associated with educated Bangkok usage. Regional varieties such as Northern, Northeastern and Southern Thai should be requested explicitly.
- Thai nouns do not normally inflect for number, and counted nouns take classifiers: น้ำสองขวด is literally water two bottle-classifier. Choose the classifier for the noun and meaning rather than defaulting blindly to อัน.
- Thai verbs do not inflect for person or tense. Time expressions and particles such as แล้ว, กำลัง, อยู่ and ยัง establish aspect or timing only when the context calls for them.
- Pronouns are often omitted when participants are clear. Polite particles are speaker-sensitive—ครับ is typical for a male speaker and ค่ะ or question-form คะ for a female speaker—so do not mix them silently. Thai script does not put spaces between every word.
English to Thai translation FAQ
How much does English to Thai translation cost?
Nothing. Every English to Thai translation on AI Translate is free, and you do not need to create an account or install anything.
How accurate is AI English to Thai translation?
The translator uses a modern AI language model that understands context, so English to Thai results read more naturally than word-for-word tools. Thai writes sentences without spaces and marks politeness with sentence-final particles, so segmentation and register are the hard parts of translation. For legal, medical, or other high-stakes text, have a fluent speaker review the output.
How do you say hello in Thai?
Hello in Thai is สวัสดี (sawasdee). The common-phrases table on this page lists more everyday Thai expressions, such as ขอบคุณ (khop khun) (thank you) and ลาก่อน (la kon) (goodbye).
Can I translate Thai back to English?
Yes. Use the swap button next to the language selectors, or open the dedicated Thai to English translator page.
Is my text kept private?
Your English text is sent securely for translation and is not stored as raw content. There are no ads and no tracking cookies.
How much English text can I translate at once?
You can translate up to 2,000 characters of English per request. For longer documents, translate them in sections.
Why does Thai need a word between a number and a noun?
Thai normally counts with a classifier in the order noun + number + classifier. The correct classifier depends on what is counted; for example, ขวด is used for bottles.
Should a Thai translation include ครับ or ค่ะ?
Use a polite particle when the social setting calls for it and the speaker information is known. ครับ typically marks a male speaker, while ค่ะ and question-form คะ typically mark a female speaker; an impersonal formal instruction may avoid either.
